SEVEN AGES OF WOMAN

Lots of very favourable responses to this monologue including one on Twitter from Dame Sian herself:

"I recorded this wholehearted, moving story by Stephen Wyatt from home during lockdown. It was wonderful to be directed again by Martin Jenkins."

DANTE'S DIVINE COMEDY

My dramatisation of Dante's The Divine Comedy is being repeated on BBC Radio 4 Extra beginning with Inferno at 10 am on Monday 11th January.

Details here.

Sadly Marc Beeby who co-produced / directed this along with Emma Harding died untimely over Christmas. For me therefore this is also a tribute to Marc and a thank you for this fantastic production.

The repeat also forms part of the BBC's contribution to the celebrations of Dante's 700th birthday.

HURST ON FILM

News just in from the Brian Desmond Hurst Legacy Site:
AN IRISHMAN CHAINED TO THE TRUTH Brain Desmond Hurst
RTE's superb radio documentary tells the almost improbable story of Brian Desmond Hurst woven through a meeting between Allan Esler Smith (who looks after the Hurst Estate) and Stephen Wyatt, an award-winning writer for radio, television and theatre. Stephen had directed the 1973 Cambridge Footlights Revue and as an aspiring writer was looking for work in the mid 1970s. What are the chances of Stephen sitting with Brian in the mid 1970s to help Hurst write his memoirs?
The new book, Hurst on Film by Caitlin Smith and Stephen Wyatt will be published in February 2021 and reveal more. In the meantime, you can listen again to this audio treat here. Includes rare recordings of Brian speaking.
I'm delighted that the memoirs are finally going to be published.

WEAVER DANCE

A wonderful ten minute video of baroque dancing made by the Weaver Dance Company made for the Early Dance Circle. I had enormous fun creating the accompanying scripts.
