IF IT'S BAROQUE

Had great fun writing the screenplay for IF IT'S BAROQUE, DON'T FIX IT, a lockdown romp for all my chums at the Weaver Dance Company. Currently in production, with Matt Devitt as director and Evelyn Nallen in charge of music, it's loosely based on Handel's Agrippina and offers among others things a lovely dance duet between Chiara Vinci in Hastings and Romain Arreghini in Paris plus a bedroom farce scene shot in multiple bedrooms.

PRAISE FOR THE WORLD AND HIS WIFE

A splendid new review of The World and His Wife on Amazon (Verified Purchase no less):
"This is one of the funniest books I've read in a long time: an account of the savage and very public marital battle between two giant Victorian egos, "Sir Niggardly Liar" and his wife Rosina, a room-silencing Irish beauty. Wyatt's credentials as an historian are impeccable: we are at ease in his world, and both divo and diva speak to us in compelling tones. At the same time, he lets loose his considerable and wicked imagination on the ill-matched pair. It would make a stunning two hander, or even an opera. I'm about to read it again."

THE PSYCHIC CIRCUS

A great review in Dr Who Magazine: "The Psychic Circus serves not only as a thrilling story in its own right, but also a joyous celebration of Sylvester McCoy's entire tenure."

THE PSYCHIC CIRCUS

Great reviews for The Psychic Circus, my first Who writing for over 30 years. Favourite quote: "Excellent return to form for you Stephen Wyatt, 30 years has diminished nothing in you."

Many thanks to the Big Finish team - director, Sam Clemens, producer Emma Haigh, script editor, Matt Fitton, composer Steve Foxon and the cast and crew.

Here's a link to one of the reviews.

Here's a link to Big Finish's Vortex Magazone article about the production.

THE BURGLAR'S OPERA

Exciting news. Just confirmed - our London debut!

Opera della Luna present

The Burglar's Opera
2nd – 5th September 2020

UPDATE: NOW POSTONED TO SPRING 2021

Opera della Luna return to Wilton’s Music Hall with a hysterically funny ‘new’ comic opera by Jeff Clarke and Stephen Wyatt, based on a short story by W S Gilbert and set to a sparkling score of music ‘stolen’ from Sullivan’s rarely heard but delightfully tuneful orchestral works.
Originally premiered in 2008, when it won four-star reviews and toured nationally, this new staging is revised specially for Wilton’s and will include the accompaniment of Opera della Luna’s twelve-strong instrumental ensemble.
The story charts the rise and fall of Septimus Belvawney, from his education at Eton, via his glittering social success as patron of the Society for Providing More Bishops, to his final demeaning downfall!
