I started writing this on 4th October, stepping in as writer at the last minute. It started recording on 7th November. An exciting but rather exhausting process!

The introduction to this dramatisation stated that Zweig was unknown in this country until recently. Pushkin Press published their version of the novel in 2000 and it has been widely available in public libraries.
It was also statedthat Zweig died in Mexico. He died in Brazil in 1942.Surely this mistake could have been corrected in the repeat on December 3rd.

Stephen Wyatt writes -
Unfortunately I'm not responsible for writing the introduction to the dramatisation but I'm sorry if the innaccuracies spoiled your listening. I do think the phrase though was "relatively unknown" which certainly seems true among people I talked to, most of whom knew nothing about the novel.

I loved it. Exhausting but excellent.

Stephen Wyatt writes -
Thanks for your generous message. Exhausting but excellent is true to the book so I'm pleased that's what you felt!
